Welcome to an amazing outdoor Splash Park in the heart of Barking Park, Essex, a place of laughter and water sparkles where you can relax and have lots of fun. The facility comprises of a safe soft, flat ground and a great variety of fountains going up and down at different intervals.

Kids can play and have loads of fun with each other, as well as with the dance-loving park mascot named Splashy when he is on duty. Guests visiting the park during the summer months can enjoy extra attractions such as Walk-On-Water balls and little pedal boats, extra tokens required.

Parents and guardians who accompany their children can wear swimsuits, relax on the deck chairs or splash about with their little ones in the safety and privacy of the park's fully enclosed walls.

Once your splashing session comes to an end, you can take the fun adventure into other parts of Barking Park, including exciting spots such as boating on The Magical Unicorn Lake and inflatable Bounsea land.

Please note Splash Park operates weather dependant so plan accordingly.

Splash Park

What are your operating times?

We operate four 90 minutes sessions that start at 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. Open on all weekends, public/school holidays and any sunny days during term from 20th of May until the end of August, weather dependent. 

What time should I arrive?

Please aim to arrive around 15 minutes before your session start time. We’ll quickly check your tickets so please have these printed or ready to show on your mobile phone. If you have purchased tickets including tokens or any other add ons you will receive those at the check-in point. The attractions by tokens can only be used during your session so please do not leave it to the last minute to enjoy them. Tokens are non-refundable but can be used until the end of the summer season on your next visit.

How long does the session last?

Each session lasts 90 minutes.

Why is there a 30 minutes break between each session?

We use this time to clean the whole site and prepare it for the next visitors.

What are the general rules at the Splash Park?

SPLASH PARK RULES
Please follow staff requests and instructions
Children must be supervised at all times
No climbing or playing in stone fountains and on the blue walls
No running, riding bikes, scooters or skateboards
Any kind of inflatables are not permitted
Umbrellas are not allowed
No photography, but discreet pictures of your own child are permitted
No BBQ, no pets, no smoking or alcohol
Protect yourself and your child/children from the sun
Consider other users and have fun

BLUE ZONE RULES
No running
No toys, balls, or inflatables allowed
No water guns, plastic bottles or containers allowed
No food or drinks allowed
All users must wear swimwear
Infants must wear swim nappies at all times
No footwear, except for jelly or protective water shoes
Do not use the splash pad if you have recently had an upset stomach
Please report any First Aid incidents to staff immediately

What facilities are available on site?

Following facilities are available inside the splash park:

  • Mixed changing rooms with 6 cubicles
  • Baby changing room
  • Toilets (male and female)
  • Disabled toilet
  • First Aid
  • Kiosk with ice creams, cold drinks and souvenirs
  • Bike station outside of the Splash Park. If you wish you can also bring your bikes and scooters to
    the site but their usage in them park is not permitted.
  • Deck chairs are provided free of charge on a first come, first served basis.
What age group is best suited to the Splash Park?

The Splash Park is best enjoyed by kids age 1 to 7. Very often they are accompanied by older siblings, who also enjoy splashing around and especially Walk-on-Water balls.

What do I need to wear to take part?

To actively play in the fountains a swimwear is mandatory. If for personal reasons you have to be fully covered please ensure that the clothes are clean. For supervising parents and carers swimwear is optional, however if you want to fully play in water and soak up in the sun then swimwear is advisable.

Do I need to to pay if I am only supervising?

Everyone that enters the site has to purchase a ticket. This helps us to monitor the numbers and maintain the site.

Are there any shady areas?

Yes. there are a number of trees planted around the blue zone that provide shade. Although the sessions are 90 minutes we would advise to use personal sun protection such as SPF creams and hats as well as drinking plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.

Can I take pictures?

Pictures and videos are not allowed, however, you are permitted to take discreet photos and videos of your children and family only.

Can I bring my own food?

Picnic style food is allowed on premisses but not on the blue zone. Please note glass containers and bottles are not allowed.

Are there any lockers onsite?

There are no lockers available onsite. Splash Park is surrounded by high walls with supervised entry/exit points. We are not responsible for any theft/loss, however so far no such incidents have been noted. Lost and found items are kept in an onsite office. Uncollected low value items such as towels, clothes, and small toys are donated to local charities at the end of the summer season.

Directions & Location

What’s the best way to get to the Splash Park?

The Splash Park is situated in the middle of Barking Park, Barking, Essex, next to the cafe and playground. The following transport lines have routes that pass near Barking Park: Bus – 5, EL1, EL2; Train – Barking station on C2C, Overground and Underground – Barking station on District line. Train station is 10 minutes walking distance from the Splash Park.

How to get to Barking Park car park?

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO SPECIFIC POSTAL ADDRESS for the Splash Park itself as it is positioned in the middle of Barking park.

There are parking spaces on the nearby streets and two car parks inside Barking Park:

FREE car park is accessed via South Park Drive, entrance between allotments and bus stop. Use postcode IG11 8FF, Ilford, UK for directions.

PAID car park accessed via Long Bridge Road through the main Barking Park gates. Use postcode G11 8TA, UK for directions. This is the building right next to the park’s main entrance gates.

What else can I do in Barking Park?

Once your splashing session comes to an end, you can take the fun adventure into other parts of Barking Park, including exciting spots such as boating on The Magical Unicorn Lake and Bounsea

Other facilities of the park include cafe, playground, skatepark and tennis courts. Beautiful gardens are also there to explore.

Attractions

What type of attractions do you have?

Currently we have small hand operated paddle boats and Walk-on-water balls. Extra tokens are required to use them.

How do I purchase tokens for attractions?

Tokens can be add on during the process of booking Splash Park tickets.

Tokens can be redeemed inside splash park for:

- Walk-on-Water balls 5 tokens

- Mini Boats 3 tokens

- Ice cream or cold drink from dispensing machines 2 tokens each.

 

What are the attractions rules?

Minimum advisable age for Mini boats and Walk-on-water balls is 5. Younger kids can take part
under full responsibility of a parent. Children under 3 not permitted.

Walk-on-water rules One person per ball, Age restriction 5 to 15 years old, Maximum weight 80kg, No flips or stunts, No jewellery or sharp objects allowed, Not suitable for serious or complex medical conditions, Must not have undergone surgery within last six months.

Mini boats One person per boat, Minimum age, 5 years old, Maximum weight 50kg, Stay seated at all times, No splashing, No crushing into other boats.

Why are they not included in the price?

Unfortunately, the attractions have age limits and are not suitable for all users, thus we offer them as an option.

Tickets

Can I buy tickets on site or are they only available online?

A very limited number of general tickets are available onsite. On a very hot day it is really hard to buy them onsite. To guarantee entry please book online. Always check our social media for special offers. Sign up to our newsletter for exclusive deals.

Can I get a refund on pre-booked tickets?

All purchased tickets are non-refundable, however they can be rescheduled up to 2 hours before the session/event start time. It is the visitor’s responsibility o monitor the weather and decide if the conditions are suitable for their children.

What if I’m late?

You can still enter during your session however you will not be able to stay in longer once your session has finished. If there is availability in the next session, and only at the discretion of the
manager on duty, you may decide to relax in the park and come back for the next session.

What if it’s raining?

If the weather forecast suggests rain, please reschedule your visit for alternative date/time. You can do so 2 hours prior to start time of your session.

My session was cancelled, what happens next?

If your session has been canceled you will be notified as soon as possible and advised to reschedule it. Please note you can do so 2 hours prior to start time of your session.

Events & Collaborations

Can I organise a birthday party for my child?

Yes, we would be very happy for you to bring guests to celebrate in the Splash Park. We allow for some small decorations supplied by yourself and picnic style food that you can bring. We are happy to store your cake in the fridge and play a Happy Birthday tune for your loved one. To proceed, simply just purchase your tickets online. Upon entry to the park please inform the manager on duty of your celebration.
We understand that the parties can be costly for parents. Please consider the option to set a picnic next to the playground (outside of the splash park boundary), and only bring kids to the splash for the session. There has to be 1 adult for every 5 visiting children. Alternative option is 30 min session at Bounsea, where kids 5 and over can attend unsupervised (please read details of age restrictions on Bounsea for individual sessions) .

Can I bring a speaker to the splash park?

Unfortunately we do not allow personal speakers. We do play music during the session.

Can I rent the Splash park for exclusive use?

As we are a public space you can only rent the place outside of the operating hours. We consider each case on an individual basis.
